Kashima Beach DIYHokota, Japan
Growth Skateboards is located in Hokota, Japan. Through Japanese distributor, Advance Marketing, they were able to take part in #thebuildproject and raised over $700 with the bucket in their shop. They chose to build at Kashima Beach, which was previously home to another DIY spot in years past. But, on March 11th 2011, Japan was devastated by a massive tsunami with waves reaching over 130 feet that travelled up to 6 miles inland. With the previous spot being a thing of the past, the Growth crew decided to re-build. A few quarter pipes, a spine transfer, ledges, a flat bar and even a barrel turned bbq pit make the new Kashima Beach spot one of the coolest spots we’ve highlighted to date.
We’d like to give a big shout-out and thank you to everyone involved with helping create this spot - Sakurai Keizo, Sumiya Naoki, Satoshi Hosoya, Masanori Ozawa, Bucho, Ozawa Humihito, Sato Kazuki, Sensei, Gunji Takashi, Someya Tomohiro, Someya Koji, Atuhiro Suzuki, Toru Fujieda, Yamaguchi Shigeru, Itoga Toshimitsu & Mocchi.
