Brad, how's it going?
Its good, I lost my phone and shit. It got stolen at a spot downtown. I'm on my way to get a new one right now.
Can we do this right now?
I'm on my mom's phone, let me call you back.
AN HOUR LATER. What's up? Sitting in traffic. Are you recording this? No, why? 'Cause it would suck. You're working right now? Where do you work? Yeah, I work two jobs actually. I work at Shred Shed, three days a week, 10 hours during the day. I have to drive 20 minutes to it and back. The days that I don't work there, I'm working on a boat. Rebuilding a boat my friends dad bought for $100. We're basically rebuilding it from scratch. What kind of boat is it? I have no clue. Its a big boat. What all did you get into over the Summer? I've been up to NY and met up with Jesse Bracewell and Silas with Adidas. Did the Brooklyn Banks and Manny Mania. Then I went to Hoboken, NJ and stayed there for almost a month and a half. We'd take the path train everyday into the city. Its $4 a trip, so it wasn't too awesome. Been filming for the Holy Cow video, should be out when everyone is reading this. BK, I think he works for 5 Boro, we shot photos with him. I wouldn't mind living in NYC. Being in Florida, do you try and get out of there during the Summer mostly? I would like to, seems like every Halloween I've been in SF. Probably last 4 years. I carved a pumpkin last night with my chick, Becca. Today is seriously perfect. So I'm trying to skate as much as I can. How did you get into skateboarding? My grandmother bought me a crazy yellow plastic board. It had dinosaurs with mohawks on it. I just kept riding that in my driveway, I was psyched on it. I remember having a Peter Smolik board from Voice, that was the board I learned to ollie on. Driveway skating, that was the best. I have pictures of that. I remember watching you skate contests before you rode for Krooked. You enjoy skating in contests? They're fun, until your run starts. I like seeing everyone, the people I don't see too often. I don't like the whole, competition feeling, I don't get that vibe from them, I usually think of it as being at a session with all your friends. Tampa Am is fun. Do you remember when we watched your sponsor me tape in the hotel room? Yeah, I don't know how that worked out, but yeah. I feel like I was better then, I'm going down hill. Maybe it was just those days when it was just freedom, no job, no responsibilities, no gas prices. I'm always on "E". What's it like riding for Krooked, and standing beside those guys, for you? Its like a blessing, to be able to skate with those guys. Those are the dudes that I look up to. Its pretty awesome. I feel blessed. I don't want to sound religious, but its a cool feeling, I don't know how to explain it. Your video part that you put together for this interview is so good. Whats the story behind it? How long were you filming for? I think most of it was around Miami and Jupiter. Filming with Peng, he looks like a penguin, so we call him that. He's down to go. Other than that, its Florida and SF footage with Biggs and Aaron. Big ups to them. What do you get into besides skateboarding? What do I do? When I'm not skating I'm working or sleeping. Or hanging with my girlfriend. I do like to paint and draw, that shits fun, but I get frustrated. Been playing dice lately, no talent in that. Are you a gambler? No, I just get lucky, so none of my friends want to play me right now. Editing the video and playing dice. I heard you voted early in Florida, who'd you vote for? I did vote, I voted for Obama. I'm not to into that stuff, but my parents are. I'm not voting for McCain, he's pro war and I'm not into getting drafted. That would be like Bush for 4 more years. Are you still driving? Nah, I'm at the skate shop now. Go set up a board. We're done with this? Cool. Can I thank anyone? Yes. Thanks to everyone and anyone that's helped me to get me where I am now. Family, friends, you guys, thanks to every single person. |
