Although the earthquake & tsunami that struck Japan were almost a a year ago now, the devastating impacts the disaster had on the country are still very prominent with hundreds of thousands of people still in need of relief efforts and help to rebuild for years still to come. Our very good friend CB from Heshdawgz in Japan took things into his own hands and got together with master lensman Joe Brook and 4sight on a very special relief deck that features Joe Brook’s Polaroid’s and personal messages from John Cardiel, Tony Trujillo, Dennis Busenitz, Brian Anderson and many more. Thank You CB for everything you do, not only in the Japanese skateboarding community, but in projects like this that go to help those truly in need.

Bordertown Demolished

Sometime in june ‘04, not long after the city demolished our tire beach experiment, my friends josh and wizard took pick-ax and shovel to some of the funkiest clay mud in all of oakland and bordertown was concieved.

There’s no telling how many people came through and sweated and bled to breath life into our own shitty little burnside. for me the first couple years were the most memorable, what i can remember, with josh living a block away and a heavy portland crossover… aubrey, pen, l.j. doggy… anyone whose ever built their own cement shit knows the excitement of those first few big pushes. cement flying, shovels flying, water flowing. the focused mayhem.sixteen-twenty hour days. sitting around drinking beer till whatever hour imagining all the directions its going to go. filth upon filth becoming clean. and the mayhem…

i dont want to get into the whole caltrans side of things. its boring and frustrating and ultimately purely shitty. yeah, it got demolished yesterday, like tire beach and the landfill and everything else we’ve built around here. and yeah, they have the bulldozers and pigs but this is guerilla warfare and we’re the viet-cong living on rice and beer in the detritus jungle… planning our next attack.

Omar Salazar Launch Party at PLA

Shops from all over Northern California came out to PLA to help celebrate Omar’s new Spitfire signature wheel and retooled Nike SB shoe. From left to right Jason of PLA, Ben Lutes PLA owner, Matt of PLA, Mike Richins of Nike, Omar the man of the hour, and Mike Manitas, owner of Atlas.

It all got kicked off with a wear test at Epic Skatepark.

Then to PLA for the party and Photo Show including photos from Joe Brook, Jeff Landi, and Greg Hunt.

There was tons of amazing photos from throughout Omar’s life in skateboarding.

Along with the release of Omar’s new Lit Strike Anywhere signature wheels, we also brought out the ‘big one’ all 700mm of it.

Omar always making time for the kids.

Mic-E, DLX sales rep Jon Schaub, Peabody and the DLX van were all there holding it down.

Jeff Landi of The Skateboard Mag, Omar and PLA owner Ben Lutes.

It wouldn’t be a skate party if the Police didn’t roll through. Good thing Omar was there to talk em down.

Alex Perelson 9TH PLACE!!!

I have always thought that great skateboarding is simply great skateboarding. We all define great skateboarding differently and that is what makes skateboarding so rad. My definition of great skateboarding maybe the direct opposite of yours and you know what, neither is more right or wrong then the other. Great skateboarding simply is great skateboarding and it’s fucking amazing to see.

I was lucky enough to get to watch Alex Perelson skate in a contest this weekend. Alex may not have made the finals this time and the others guys definitely killed it, but It was incredible seeing him skate first hand. We were all going nuts screaming at the top of our lungs and beating the shit out of each other as he killed each wall. In my book - I was lucky to see some great skateboarding by Alex and great skateboarding is great skateboarding. Thank you Alex!

LET IT ROLL’S 30 DAY NOTICE CONTEST WINNERS

30 days is no easy task to collect footage, and instead of going out and attempting the biggest stair set on the block: Robert Blazek, Michael Mijares, Rashad Patton, and Alex Spencer decided to go around to the local parks in Las Vegas and get their shred on. Hanging out with friends, taking slams, and sharing some laughs; therefore preserving the essence of skateboarding by having FUN! It is no wonder that they won the 30 day notice contest. - Timothy Lay, Owner Let It Roll, Las Vegas, Nevada.
