Crys Worley and Peter Karvonen from ASkate invited me to join them at the Masters of Tattoo convention to help raise money for A.Skate. The convention was held at Hollywood Park Casino and Racetrack, near LAX. The convention was put together by Mister Cartoon and Permanent Mark. It hosted countless legends in tattooing, from Freddy Corbin to Hanky Panky to Mike Wilson to Jack Rudy. And also the guys that have cut their teeth and are doing amazing things like Bert Krak, Todd Noble, Dan Smith and Tim Hendricks. Seriously so many amazing artists doing amazing work, selling shirts, prints and books. Wendy Bezel of Bezel Books was there too. She distributes all kinds of tattoo books, like Grime’s Iron Will and Shawn Barbers’ book of paintings. The event was two days long and a portion of the proceeds went to raise money for ASkate to help raise awareness of Autism, providing autistic children an outlet with skateboarding and working towards a cure. So of course I had to get a few tattoos. - Darin Howard.
