I've wanted to try both Rainier and Kokanee for about 17 years

I'll merk some Tecate every once in while, if we're having taco night or just grillin' out. Dos Equis Amber is my favorite Mexi.

Is Victoria from Latin America? I started seeing it at my go-to pupusa place before I saw it in stores, no idea where it's actually from. I'm good with it as well.

Victoria is from Mexico. It's always been around, but it seems recently they're pushing it more around here.

I wish Hamm's and Olympia were readily available here.

$9.99 Hamm's cases a block from me. Thats my joint. They raised PBR prices $3 per case because they got a new outer package and people were buying it. Fuck that.

I can get them both at BevMo most of the time, but none of the BevMo's are convenient to my 'hood. Every time I go into a bar (which is about once a year) they have Oly in cans though. Where are the bars getting it?

Being in a long-term relash and skyrocketing into #olds lif also has me forming actual opinions about wine for the first time, since we probably do that with dinner the other half of the time. Here's my offish opin: Easy to find a French wine, even cheap table wine, all totes fine by me. Napa valley, you're trying way too hard. Cool it with the fruit and booze flavs, and git wit da erf.

I bring this up because it kinda changed my opinion of beer. All those mega-hopped out IPA's I grew up liking in the NW I kinda feel the same way about as CA wine tims. Duds, make sum gud beer, don't blast my face with new world flava. Many do it right, but 75% are totally interchangeable.

From their distributors. Different peeps than we'd deal with. I know there's some bar folks on here that could tells us if they stumble on this thread.

My Brothers a wine rep. I usually always have a couple cases of decent stuff in the basement. You're welcome to crack open a bottle if you visit. I don't drink much of it.

I'm hearing ya on the vino front. We have something like 2-3 new wineries opening each week in this country, so competition is cut-throat and quality is outstanding for the price. French wine is very hit-and-miss. I've had more shitty French wine than from any other country/region. However, when you get a good one, it's real good. That said, beer is and will always remain close to my heart. These beers are unfuckwithable.

Really? Could be that different areas import different stuff for different tastes, or we just have different tastes, but I'm usually safe with tha Frenchy French vino, and find local California stuff really hit and miss. I've heard there's great Aussie wine. Any recommendations on a good cheapie?

And I'm with you, beer is something i've been a connoisseurizing about for much longer.

Then there's whiskey.

Agreed. the overhopped pissing contest is a cheap way to get attention for your wack ass brewery. Although, Ska Brewing Co's Modus Hoperandi and Dale's Pale Ale are wicked good hoppy IPA's

one can find 5-7 decent california cabernets under $10 from trader joes no problem.... french wine confuses me. i live 3 blocks away from kermit lynch and havent been in there yet.. partially cuz its too expensive but partially cuz im okay w drinking napa cabs. and trust me, im a lowbrow wine snob. none of that 2 buck chuck shit or even the $5 shit that also gives you a headache.

also, trumer pils talk onlee pls.

I like trumer pils because the tap handle looks like mb tlk.

I've had Pliney. I even got a patch! but i gave it away.

I'm feeling all the double IPAs and all that right now. What's Pliney, triple? Two in Michigan are Shorts Huma Lupa Licious which is my current favorite. And Bells Hopslam which was on ebay for like $15 a bottle or some stupid shit.

but if i'm drinking, i prefer PBR 'cause you cannot drink 12 Pliney's. at least I cant.

Sam Adams is good shit.
The Octoberfest is killer.

I think the Northwest has the highest concentration of good breweries, but my favorite is Ommegang from Cooperstown, NY.

Well, depends on what you like. Shiraz (Syrah) is really popular here. It's the ballsy, loud-mouth pool coping destroyer of wine. Mount Langi Ghiran Billi Billi Shiraz from 2009 has been ruling for me lately. If you like to get mellow and tech, any Pinot Noir from Tasmania from the last 4-5 years is a lock.
