We South Dakotans have a fucked up views of Sloppy Joes. Can yous guys tell me the difference between a sloppy joe, a tavern, a BBQ, a loose meat sandwich, and a Manwich please?

a tavern is a bar.
a sloppy joe is a type of sandwich, Manwich is the brand name of that type of sandwich from Hunt's
a loose meat sandwich is some lower echelon type elementary school lunch
if i need to explain what a BBQ is, you need to get the fuck outta SD....

That's how I feel too. I would consider a BBQ to be ground beef or a pulled roast with BBQ sauce. A tavern is also a loose meat/onion collabo. South Dakotans consider all of those to be sloppy joes.

my grandpops would fix a mixture of ground beef and mustard and ketchup and brown sugar in the ole skillet and he called that barbecue. He was a cook in WWII and had all types of crazy names for shit he would cook up though. Probably called that barbecue because it was the closest thing he could get.
i feed it to my seeds in his honor every now and again
